A media event on the grounds of Capitol Hill preceded the sequence of demo rides.
Congressman Bill Shuster (PA),
Chairman of the US House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, hosted us and
emcee'd the media event. He kicked off the event and spoke at length about
the future of autonomous cars.
Mr. Peter
Rogoff, USDOT Acting Under-Secretary for Policy, followed and
spoke about the policy implications and the promise of deploying driverless vehicles.
Dr. Cora Marrett, Deputy Director
of the National Science Foundation (NSF), talked about the major
investments made by NSF in the Cyber-Physical Systems program to
advance the science behind such promising applications.
A Q&A session with media present followed.
