Analog, Power, I/O
- Analog I/O is where the work gets done!
  - Multiple power supplies / Lightning protection circuits / I/O
       drivers
- Some current digital CAD tools tolerate analog components, but
       don't actively support them
- Trend to using "smart" sensors/actuators
  - Small CPU on each remote component does A/D, D/A conversion
  - Embedded network routes data with fewer wires and better
       noise immunity
Design Challenges:
  - Connector size & reliability
  - Improved design rule checking/simulation for mixed
       digital/analog systems
  - System partitioning in face of limited embedded network
       resources
