Grading

  • 25% Homeworks
  • 25% Midterm
  • 40% Final
  • 5% Class participation
  • 5% Reading critiques

Class participation is measured by both frequency and pertinence of the insights. That is, someone who constantly makes trivial remarks would not necessarily get higher marks than somebody who more infrequently makes a judicious observation or asks insightful questions.

Reading critique grade is obtained by averaging the scores the student obtained on the reading critiques that were randomly selected for grading. The grade is then modulated by counting the reading critiques that the student submitted (all=100% of the mark, one missing=75% of the mark, two missing=50% of the mark, more than two missing=0% of the mark).
