Mihailo (Minya) Rancic completed his PhD in 2026, working with Prof. Akshitha Sriraman on enabling efficient hyperscale data center systems. His dissertation was titled "Enabling Hardware and Software Acceleration at Hyperscale," and he is now at Google. His research interests lie broadly in the area of Computer Architecture, spanning the range from low-level device technology to operating systems. He is specifically interested in rethinking data center architectures from the ground up to enable the hardware to keep up with recent computing trends, such as the exponential increase in data, users, and service functionality.
Minya's research has been recognized with the 2026 Neil and Jo Bushnell Fellowship in Engineering, the 2024 Hsu Chang Memorial Fellowship, the 2023 Julia Randall Weertman Award, the 2023 Phillips and Huang Family Fellowship in Energy, the 2021 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP), and the 2021 Carnegie Institute of Technology Dean’s Fellowship.
