Nick Zayed Nick Zayed (hzayed@zappa.ece.cmu.edu) received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1989. From 1989 to 1992, he
was employed by IBM (San Jose, California) where he became involved
in the design of mixed-signal ICs for use in IBM's disk drive
products. In 1994, he received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
from the University of Notre Dame. His master's thesis focused
on the implementation of a nonlinear filter as an analog integrated
circuit. The filter was used for removing noise from image data.
Currently, he is working towards a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His emphasis has switched towards signal processing systems
and he is focused on devising equalization and detection schemes for very
high-density magnetic recording channels. He is being advised by
Professor L. Richard Carley.
