Academic and Career Interests:

In short, my technical interests are in the general area of networking.  Ever since my family acquired our first computer and I became familiar with the concept of data transfer, I have been fascinated with all aspects of networking.  Also, the influences and explanations of my father (a professor of telecommunications) and experiences with computers and communications have encouraged me to pursue a career in communication systems.

During my undergraduate education, I worked on a project about spread-time communications and its application to wireless PANs and ad-hoc networks, under the auspices of Prof. J.A. Salehi.  Now, at CMU, I am working on intra-car wireless sensor networks.  The project is funded by General Motors and my advisor is Prof. O.K. Tonguz.  At present, I am working on measuring the characteristics of the signal propagation environment present in such networks.

Other Interests and Activities:

I am an avid reader of books (mainly novels and short stories).  I also enjoy sports and exercise, especially basketball, swimming and the martial arts.  Music is practically an addiction, with a collection that ranges from Metallica to Mozart, Blackmore's Night to Fountains of Wayne.  Since my second year at Sharif, student extracurricular activities have been very engaging for me and I have participated in many - the student group Resana and the EE department student council to name two.  So far at CMU I have joined the Persian Student Organization (PSO).
