Alice and Bob should not require an advanced degree in cryptography as the protocol machinations should be transparent to the immediate user. The digital cash should be simple to use from both the spending perspective and the receiving perspective. Complicated systems are difficult to administer and raise the failure rate due to errors of the user. Simplicity leads to mass use and mass use leads to wide acceptability.
