Conventions

Mono-spaced font is used for commands and keys to type. A keystroke such as C-e means Control-e, MC-e stands for Meta-Control-e. Emacs commands contain the Meta Prefix, you can either type Escape before the next key, or holding the Alt key while typing the rest of the command has the same effect (On some keyboards, it may be another key for Meta).
